Before your appointment

Ear wax removal

  • Most people don't need ear drops first. If you think your wax is hard or impacted, use a little olive oil spray, such as Earol, 1 or 2 days before. Please don't use drops that "dissolve" wax, such as Otex, as they can make it harder to remove.
  • If you wear hearing aids, bring them.

Hearing test or hearing aid assessment

  • You're welcome to bring a partner or family member.
  • If you already wear hearing aids, bring them.
  • Jot down the situations where you struggle most, such as TV, restaurants or phone calls. It helps us focus on what matters to you.
  • Hearing aid assessment only: the appointment is around 90 minutes, and the £95 fee is not payable if you order hearing aids on the day.
